What type of shifts are available at In-N-Out Burger?
Our stores offer a variety of flexible shifts and are willing to work around personal commitments including school schedules. It takes dedicated Associates working at all times of the day and night to provide the best experience possible to our Customers. To that end, we offer a variety of shifts that may work with your specific scheduling needs. Be sure to indicate your desired availability on your application.

What are the responsibilities of a Restaurant Associate?
Our Restaurant Associate position is what In-N-Out is all about; giving the customers the freshest, highest quality foods and providing them with friendly service in a sparkling clean environment. At In-N-Out, our work environment is fast paced, fun and team oriented. Each Associate is given an opportunity to advance within the In-N-Out Burger Levels of Development progressing from preparing produce and taking orders, to ensuring the quality of our fries and assembling our fresh, made-to-order burgers, to finally overseeing operations as a member of our management team.
What are the responsibilities of a Custodial (Clean-Up) Associate?
As a Clean-Up Associate you will enjoy the same benefits as any Store Associate with the important responsibility of maintaining our sparkling clean environment, preparing the store to open. The Clean-Up Associate is also responsible for providing the final quality control check and must guarantee that the store environment presents a spotless image according to our high In-N-Out Burger standards. A sample of these duties includes scrubbing the floors, cleaning the fryers, maintaining the patio and parking lot areas, washing the windows, and polishing the tile. Work shifts typically begin early (5:00 am or earlier) and are generally completed by mid-day. A great position for morning types or those who need afternoons off.
What is the age requirement for a Custodial (Clean Up) Associate?
Qualified candidates must be 18 years or older.
What training and advancement opportunities are available?
At In-N-Out Burger, we believe strongly in promoting from within and that training is our future. I have several years of experience managing quick service restaurants. Do you have any store management opportunities available?
All of our In-N-Out Burger Store Managers start out as hourly Associates and are promoted with the help of our ongoing training and development program. This ensures that each In-N-Out manager has a strong foundational understanding of company principles and operations in order to uphold our unique quality and customer service standards. For this reason, we do not hire directly for Store Management positions.
Can I apply to more than one location?
Absolutely! Start by applying at a single location. As you complete your application, we will ask you if want to apply at an additional location. You may apply at up to 4 locations.
I heard a new store is opening near me soon. How do I apply before it opens?
When we have new stores opening you'll find a list of them here. Check back frequently to see if any new stores are planned in your area.
What are the steps in the hiring process?
Once submitted, your application will be kept active for 60 days. During this time, the management team will have access to review your application and may contact you to set up an interview. At the end of the 60-day period, you may submit another application should you wish to continue to be considered for another position.
Now that I've submitted my application, what happens next?
Each of our stores is responsible for making their own hiring decisions. You may be contacted directly by phone or email to set up an interview if the management team finds that your qualifications could be suited for the position. In the meantime, you are welcome to follow up on your application in person, by visiting the store you applied at and asking a member of management about the store's specific hiring needs.
